More Emotional Connection: The Secret of Oprah's Success
Been catching up on some reading tonight and read the February 2 viewpoint in BusinessWeek by Carmine Gallo.
The article talks about the secret of Oprah's success and what today's executives need to do more to strike a stronger chord with their audiences. It's all about finding emotional connections through the company's actions, services, marketing and communications. Admiting failures and mistakes. Knowing the value of real apologizing in order to move forward and not getting stuck in a PR quagmire. Lowering the defensive image shield for Wall Street and showing more actual substance. Less decision-making concerned with short-term gains and more for long-term sustained passionate, courageous results to truly help people and solve problems.
If you're feeling a little stressed out and are reading that "Breathe" sign posted next to your computer monitor, this little article might give you a little reminding inspiration for how you can make a difference.
